The 23rd IPS User Group Meeting took place at Warwick University last Wednesday (19th September). Some 130 attendees from over 100 firms and industry suppliers and regulators had a very informative day.
As ever Ted Wetton and the team from Gibson Booth Insolvency ran the day with precision and kept all speakers (especially me) on time.
The Turnkey team consisted of myself, Tony Wood the Turnkey managing director, Lynn Barker my right hand "man" and Chris Hill who managed to tear himself away from the IPS support line for a day.
From Ted and Tony's introductions the day proceeded with me giving an update of our activity since the previous meeting and demonstrating the new facilities available in the upcoming IPS release including direct notice and advert filing with the Gazette, post code, bank sort code and exchange rate data feeds as well as phase 2 of the creditor portal to include claim and voting information. This was followed by HSBC presenting their CMM client money solution. A break and then the insolvency equivalent of the Jeremy Kyle show with representatives from the ICAEW, Insolvency Service and Turnkey sitting at the front of the room and having questions fired from the floor (all very entertaining). The afternoon saw the usual format of breakout sessions and then Darren's hints and tips session.
The feedback received from users was that the day served its purpose and I would like to thank all who attended for making the day such a success.

Paymex and VAT on fees update
Users will be aware that HMRC has issued a further update on the position and both Trust Deeds and Company Voluntary Arrangements now also qualify for exemption. Build 157 included an ‘IVA Fee VAT Potential Refund’ to assist users in assessing the likely recovery of VAT across their IVA caseload. We have now adapted this grid to include the facility to obtain this information on Trust Deeds and CVA’s as well.

The new PAYMEX VAT Potential Refund file is attached and can be copied to:

RP14/RP14A – files last updated 07/11/2011
Minor revisions have been made and the latest files are attached or can be downloaded from our website. Regular checks on either our website or this forum will provide the latest updates in relation to these files.
There is also a modified RP14A Details Grid as we recently discovered that users were importing information and overwriting the Pay Day for M and M5 pay types – these should always be a Saturday of course, as will Not Knowns. We have added an additional column so that you can now see the Pay Day you have entered and the actual Calc Pay Day which will be used.

IPS Build 157 - Release Date 27 October 2011
Since the release of Build 156 in August, we have had further clarification and ruling on a number of unusual ERA situations which we have now added into our calculations. In addition the RP14/14A files have been modified as the RPS finally provided us with a testing route and the majority of uploads are now being completed successfully.
Please Note:users of Build 156 wanting to upload RP14/14A information to the RPS website before they have applied the Build 157 upgrade must get in touch with Turnkey to obtain the latest version of these files. Earlier Builds do not contain the requisite fields and so the upgrade to Build 157 will be essential. The RPS have stated in their latest newsletter (October 2011 Issue no 10) that once CHAMP is live across all RPS sites, they will not accept RP14/14a in any format other than OCR forms or IP Upload.
